Diesel, Off Road and Turbo coming

Mr Gorman said a diesel, off-road and turbo models could be in Mark 2. Early next year

Hopefully, if they do offer a diesel - which there will be a huge price premium for, that it will be the PAG 3.6 or 4.0L V8 that is based on the 2.7L V6. 6 speed auto from the Discovery would slot in nicely too (in all the Falcon range) also a 6.2L petrol V8 'Hurricane' would look good on the options list!

I wonder why the turbo wait is so long? I would think it was just a matter of making more engines and dropping them in.

Nah, dont think it's as simple as that. Ever noticed the specs on the XR6T limit it's towing capacity to 1600kg even with the auto, i am thinking this is because of the amount of torque, and with that much force on the transmission (with more weight) wouldnt be recommended for it, and this would be more of a problem with the Territory as it is to be used for carrying and pulling more weight. Well that's the logic i have come up with.

Its more a case of releasing it with new spec engines and transmissions. Ford didn't need to spend a heap of money getting the current setup to suit when it will be upgraded soon. Packaging is also a problem, apparently the intercooler needs somewhere to go.
