Tisdaln - Sorry to inform you but I was wrong when I posted that and have since posted other threds to try to sort this out.

refer Multi Region for REX 3

It cannot play all regions. The DVD I tried to test it was an Amazon sourced Finding Nemo which I thought would be region 1 but turned out to be region 1 and 4 dual coded(Australia is region 4). I have some region 1 only DVDs and none work in the REX3.

Most DVD players have a code that can be entered to change the region code to 0 which allows all regions but I have not been able to get this yet. The DVD player is made by Eurovox and they won't tell me how to "region free" it and say it can't be done - I don't believe it though.

I've posted on here and Fordmods.com hoping for help but no-one has come up with a way to fix this. I have however sourced some free software that allows me to burn region free copies of my DVDs and I use these in the car now. They work great - if you have a DVD burner for your computer let me know and I'll point you in the right direction for this software.

It is incredibly annoying that if you buy a $80 DVD player from k-mart it can play any DVDs but spend over $3000 and your on your own with region 4 - pisses me off

Hope you didn't buy it based on my misleading post - but I was as surprised as you the first time I got that wrong region error. I tried to edit that post but it won't let me - I should have posted again in the thread - but I guess I am now...

Re: DVD/Entertainment package

I bought for a recent trip a 7 inch portable DVD from Strathfield car radios. It was a Shinco which Choice magazine recently rated high. They have a range from 5 inch to 9 inch. Price is dependent on whether you want input/outputs to televisions etc. Mine cost $429 and came with a soft case which enable you to mount it onto the back of the front seats or (as I did) suspend it between the front seats with earphones. It is powered by a rechargeable battery (approx 2 hours) or connect to power source.

When not in use the kids would close it in its case - not obviously seen. Advantage of being able to use it away from the car. We used it to look at digital photos we took during the day.

Overall it was the best investment for the trip I made.

Cheers

Mark

Re: DVD/Entertainment package

Just did a round trip of 1900km with DVD in a RWD Ghia and it was excellent. No issues with headphones. Cabin sound was great too but did notice a faint buzz when the exterior lights were turned on. A DVD player (whatever sort) is worth it's weight in gold with little kids on a long haul!

Re: DVD/Entertainment package

The idea of a DVD unit for the kids at the back does sound like a great idea, but I wonder if looking at a small screen, high up and a meter away will cause any damage to eye sight or sight development.

I've thought about it, but ended up just getting a couple of Activity Packs. The kids draw, write & colour-in, sing along to CD's & watch the country side.

But, whatever works.
