arent all the keys exactly the same except for the transponder codes? thats why you can lock any ford with one key using the keyhole but they wont unlock or start the vehicle.

least thats what i understand from the dealer anyway

No, the keys have unique angled cut faces that work in conjunction with the transponder. One handles turning the ignition and the other handles the engine computer.
