First 6 speed Territory test drive? - Ford Forums

Actually I have no idea if its the first ... but perhaps I'm the first to report on it in the forum.

Went for a nice half hour test drive at a Sydney Ford dealer today in a Mercury Silver Ghia AWD 5 seater and the changes to the new model are terrific and well worthwhile!

The gear change with the new tranny is outstanding and a SIGNIFICANT advance on my current 4 speed Ghia. Very smooth, imperceptible gear changes up and down the box.

The lower first and second gears make the car feel substantially more athletic and nimble compared to the 4 speed box. The car literally rocks back and takes off, compared to the current car, from rest.

The car seems to be even quieter in the cabin than the current car and I'd suggest the 6 speed trans has helped quieten and calm the upgraded Barra 190. Windnoise seemed a bit better too, but maybe that's just an impression compared to my older 2004 car.

The operation and effectiveness of the new reverse camera was fantastic too.

Overall .... a BIG improvement, so congrats Ford. You have my next order come Feb next year.

You are correct.

I replaced my 2004 territory with the 6 speed model and have already completed 10,000 km in the 6 speed. Simply great! and a very clear reduction in fuel usage. bigger improvment than Ford suggest
