I went to Perth Motor Show today and saw the Territory. IMMPRESSED !! VERY IMPRESSED. !! They had one on its side showing how the 4wd system works.
Also you could sit in and play with a base spec model. GHIA was locked.
I also got a sales brochure on the Territory, which has a fact sheets on it.
TS model won't be available until September. Models TX, TS AND GHIA.
RWD and AWD drive models available. GHIA is $56k. Tyres are a choice of road biase or SUV biase tyres. Colours same as FPV range.
FPV had an impressive display, with the Typhoon on display and a Typhoon engine on display, plus a dismantled 290kw engine.
Mention what Holden on display ? nah.
Territory is going to kill Adventra, if not Aussies are downright dumb.
RATT and I are salespeople, trust us when we say starting price is $38,990 for TX, and Ghia price is $49,290 with AWD being $4000. This car if it doesn't win the next Wheels Car of the Year I'll be surprised. I reckon it'll be a close one between New Commodore and Territory. Considering Falcon has already smashed the local car barriers Commodore would have to do a darn sight better again to be in the running. Territory is revolutionary, it's a bargain and it is seriously dead sexy. What more do you need in a car?!!!
"What more do you need in a car" a V8 a V8 !!!!
So how do you explain the difference in what you know and what I was told ?
I don't doubt you, but there is a $6k difference ?
I agree this should win Wheels car of the year.
dunno, but he was probably just wrong. May have been quoting an on-road price or something. It is still a hot bargain... hmmm Fully loaded Terriroty Ghia AWD or Toyota Prado... umm let me sleep on that one for about 3 milliseconds.....
V8 probably won't make it either, who knows. I've heard more likely to be Turboed anyway. But it's not a performance car... yet give FPV about 6 months tops.
"So how do you explain the difference in what you know and what I was told ? I don't doubt you, but there is a $6k difference?
No there's not. Ratt said 49.2 for ghia, plus 4 for AWD
that ...ummm.. too many fingers .
plus ORC ( about 1500 or so?) puts it pretty close to 55
The motor show guy said 55.9 for AWD GHIA... close enough, but really he should have quoted the lower figure.
And I dont think the LR Disco for 55 is much of a competitor. If i wanna go deep into rainforest or the outback serious off road, i will checkout the Disco.
IF I wanna carry the family tribe and granny and kids pal to soccer, shops, maybe up the snowies or to our secret picnic spot. why do i want a truck like big ungainly 4WD?
Just slightly worried by that Australian Newspaper report quoted on this forum that calls it "Competent but heavy and thirsty". Didnt exactly rave, and will weight and fuel be its achilles heel?
$49200 (Ghia) + $4k (AWD) + $1695 (Dealer delivery) + $1093 (2% stamp duty in Qld) + $17 (number plate fee) + about $700 for a year's third party and rego. Grand total approx. $56705.
I love it when I'm in a dealership and they've got the calculator adding and every time you hear them hit the + sign you think what the heck could they be adding now?
No offence guys, it's just the nature of the beast how pricing is structured. I'm highly in favour of drive away prices or at least prices that incorporate the dealer delivery fee... Wow, I better stop myself before I get on that high horse.
Again, no offence to the dealers here. That whole kettle of fish wasn't your choice.
I don't believe the Territory will win Wheels car of the year because it won't perform too well in the efficiency criteria. The fuel economy won't be too flash and that will work against it although it should be a finalist. Poor fuel economy nearly stopped the BA from getting the award and the Territory will be worse.
