Ford Territory Turbo!!!!

Just a little snippet from the latest Wheels magazine.....

While it is likely that Ford has built at least on turbo Territory, this does not mean that a force-fed crossover will ever make it into production. Wheels believes that the program has not been approved for production and, even if the decision to go ahead was made tomorrow, the Territory Turbo would not be seen until 2006 at the earliest.

Sorry guys, looks like a CAPA supercharger kit might be the way to fill the void until 2006/2007.

Re: Ford Territory Turbo!!!!

Could someone explain why the Terry *needs* a turbo?

Does a '95 Festiva beat it from a red light?
Doesn't it cruise comfortably at any legal speed limit in Australia, with enough in reserve for overtaking?
Doesn't it go fast enough already, for a 2 tonne wagon with a centre of gravity that high? Especially if your other half or 16yo L-plater daughter will be driving it?
Doesn't it use enough petrol already?

If Ford wants to shift more units per month, which is surely their goal, I reckon the extra engine option should be a diesel.

I think if you need that question answered, maybe you are at the wrong website?

Performance. Plain and simple. The Terry, is honestly, slow. It drives very nicely, but just needs some extra urge. 300kw should do.

Re: Ford Territory Turbo!!!!

the turbo engine would be great for it, or even the V8, then bring the gearing down a little, that is the main reason for its thirst

Re: Ford Territory Turbo!!!!

V8 wont fit -

IL6 plus turbo and 6 speed gearbox with higher overdrive ratios.

I hope 2006 is a typo or just plain wrong. If it's correct, Ford really do move slower than continental shift.

Sorry, I thought this was a forum for people who liked Fords? Not just quarter-mile-time bogans who chuck donuts 'til the diff blows?

Some like a little more power. I don't see the problem really. It's a choice that some people would like to have. Why does FPV and HSV exist? Both base model cars (XT and exec beat a festiva).
