Got genuine roof racks on a few weeks ago thinking I could fix a wire basket that I already had to them without too much fuss.
Ahhh, I was wrong.
- The roof racks (aside from being ridiculously priced) are really wide - too wide for any aftermarket roof rack manufacturer. I went to every car and 4WD place in town and nobody makes any U-bolts that come close to fitting
- So I call the local ford dealer, and you can't buy any attachments from Ford either. You have to buy the complete cage or pod or whatever.
- The night before we went away I ended up using some pieces of flat plates and bolted the damn cage on that way!
So, be careful before getting the genuine roof racks - you'll basically end up stuck using only genuine attachments!
