Sorta looks like it has a little bit of Land Rover Freelander and late model Honda CRV in it. Cant make a real judgement until I see it in the flesh and that wont be for a while.

Umm, yeah, right

Righto
Are you guys forgetting that the competition have similarly sized and heavy vehicles powered by everything from 2.4l fours to 3.5l V6's. The torquey 4.0l I6 and 5.4l V8 are not going to struggle with this.

chevypower, I saw the Terrirory at the MMS and it looked pretty BIG. A credit to the designers in making it look as though it is smaller and nimble(???).
I am not sure if the T will get a V8 or the turbo, or maybe both but either engine will make it market leader in power/torque output. And comparing this to the explorer with a MAX power output of only 178kW with the V8 the T really sh*ts all over it. And if the T was bassed on the falcon platform I am sure it will get the blade IRS.
The pricing of the base model T will be around $35-37k, which puts it neatly into the SUV market. And with the inline 6 it will get 182kW. The higher models will be obviously at a greater price. But the pricing I don't think will be the problem. It sounds competitive to me.
So putting the power and torque concerns into perspective, no matter which engines FOA uses it will be competitive or a market leader. I am sure the Territory will give the SUV market a shake up.

No Thanks.
Sorry mate, insert a NOT into my quote and it makes more sense. I am all for the T. Just expressing my concerns on the weight issue. 2Tonnes is a lot of sheetmetal lard.
Yeah two tonnes is alot of sheet metal to get moving. I don't think the turbo would appriciate the extra strain because it needs to revv abit harder before the boost kicks in. Plus whats the point in having a turbo in one the people that drive these wouldn't care for it.
To save the development costs associated with introducing low-range gearing they should just use an existing 6 speed box but call it a 5 speed with s super low first gear that wouldnt be used for taking off in normal conditions. Kind of like a 1/2 gear before 1st. After all, low range is only ever used for super slow speeds like <20km/h so there's no point in having 5 or 6 low range gears. A super low gear and 1st will do the job just as well and save on weight and complexity.
For those of you who have a gripe with the size of those wheels...remember that its designed to go offroad. That means you need some sidewall on the tyre and suspension travel. I think 60 profile tyres are cutting it pretty close when it comes to offroad use. As soon as you put bigger wheels on it you can kiss the offroad ability well and truly goodbye...and in that case why bother buying the car in the first place?
Just my thoughts.

Saw it at the MMS over the weekend, and it's not bad. Front end does look a bift soft (prefer the R7 concept front) but compared to what it'll be up against it's not shaping up too badly. Any chance of either of the BOSS engines going in it?... Hmmm, that'll show Mr CRV driver :-)

The CRV only has 118kW i think so no matter what engine Ford uses it will kill its rivals, making the T very competitive or even class leader in the power stakes. I think the T will be competing against the likes of the Honda MDX and all those ones. It will give the X5 a run for its money. This is FOA's first stab at 4WD so i wish them all the best as well. Hope to see the 4WD data used in the next falcon.
I don't think they can fit in the BOSS engines and I do not know if Ford are willing to give the T a bonnet buldge. But I do hope the 220 or the Turbo6 engines go into the T.
