Personally i'm not too fussed. Geoff is right, the Barra 6 is a pearler of an engine, which can have the turbo fitted which has proven on BA that it is just as and faster than the V8's. The 182 engine goes brilliant, will be even better with the series 2 version.
I agree, a V8 option on a forbie would be great to have (i would choose it) but it's a medium 4WD and not aimed at V8-loving revheads. The X5 has a V8, but is slightly bigger. Maybe Ford conducted marketing as per barra and most people (not us) did not want a V8 in a medium 4WD, therefore it wasnt viable to design the engine bay for both configerations.
I'm sure Ford or FPV will surprise us with something

I don't get it, if Ford makes V8 and Turbo 6 utes, why the hell don't they make V8 and Turbo 6 stationwagons???
Their argument might be: because there's a lack of interest for this combination. But the way I see it is: every sale counts and every sale for Ford is a loss for the competition.
What is logic ??

why would you want a territory anyway? Don't you see they are making everything smaller
V8 and 4wd conjures up images of tall goofy Land Rovers with soccer mums in 'em......BORING
I *personally* think cross over SUV whatevers are ugly, pointless half breeds.
But dropping the V8, all i have to say is remember the XF and how V8 culling lost many generations of bogans to Holden.
And dropping the falcon for a popularised, americanised, bastardised half cast that isnt quite as good as a 4wd yet not quite as good as a sedan is, sadly, a case of the sum of the parts being a lot less than the whole.....well that will lose you an entire Australian market.
I think the problem is the turbo 6 isn't the answer because the type of person who wants a V8 wagon is more likely to be someone who does alot of towing &/or long distances rather then an out an out sports model. i think it would be a more tradional older demographic who wouldn't trust a turbo or accept they could be as good
