how long does it take to be a lemon

well after four trips to the dealer the electrical problems seem to be fixed but now the drivers side window is stuck in the down position and the drivers door wont latch . so does the tx qualify as a lemon yet?

There is no such thing as a lemon in australia as we have no lemon laws. It is just label an inconvience.

45,000km service coming up - and i'll be asking for a sizable list of fixes:
* Gearbox (3rd time)
* Steering click (5th time)
* Brake Shudder (2nd time, and has the applied "Fix")
* etc...

Smile Re: how long does it take to be a lemon

I am also a distance from my dealer 169km's. It is not about being a lemon or not, it is a question as to HOW GOOD THE MANUFACTURER IS WITH THEIR BACKUP SUPPORT. Newsgroups and forums are a great place to broadcast faults and also asking for help, but for all the grizzles and problems, there is a huge number of great cars out there too.

Ensure the dealer fixes the problems or take it higher, directly with FORD. Ford can't afford too many mistakes this time.

A lot of new cars have teething problems, as they rely on so many companies with their added parts, all meshing to work together. Sometimes buying secondhand cars with 40,000km's on the clock can have its advantages.

Hope you have some luck soon and get the award winning beast fixed.

Thumbs down Re: how long does it take to be a lemon - about 7000K's

Mine did about 7000 K's and had the following faults:

1) Brake fade - bled 3 times - found air bubbles and booster replaced - still fault and it failed one day driving on the freeway.
2) When it rains heavy and you drive through a puddle of water or if there is water on the road - it starts to hunt - no fault found.
3) Speakers have a hight pitched hum when you use washer - no fix.
4) Baffle plates rattle - new clamps.
5) Goes out of alignment frequently - needed shims in it to fix it.
6) Rear shockies creak like an old ute, replaced and lubed coil rubber mounts, twice, replaced sway bar, replaced sway bushes, replaced shockies - still there.

Well the solution - sold the lemon and purchased another vehicle not a Ford and have less stress in my life now.

Sorry you didn't get FORD to take it back. Can I ask what you have now? Is it running any better or are the kilometres still low too to say yet.
