Have now done 600 kms and now getting 14.6 litres per 100 km - helped along by a few easy 90-100 kph runs. I live in a small capital city and no doubt would do a fair bit worse if I was in heavy traffic each day.
Did a bit of off roading today and scraped the underneath - glad I got the sump guard. Who was it that said ground clearance wasn't an issue? No big issue though and we were only in try it out mode - unlikely to do many trips like that one. The Terri performed flawlessly and and the Hill Descent Control was excellent. Made the track we were on so much easier to navigate. Thought I was wasting my money on hill descent but can see the wisdom of it now and recommend it to any purchaser.
She who must be obeyed had her first drive and is also rapt - can't believe how well it drives. The Imprezza is not quite flavour of the month anymore.
I've now racked up 771kms in 5 days (mainly around town and not babying it) and getting 15.2l/100k's according to the computer. Went for a run out along the Corin Dam road and back through the Cotter in the south and west of the ACT yesterday arvo. Lots of twisty stuff and a fair climb up to Corin Forest (it snows heavily up there in winter). The Ghia went like a rocket and handled beautifully. The family loves it - I love it. I hope everyone else is enjoying theirs.
Driving to work thinking how much this morning thinking how much I love this car when this scarey clunking started resonnating through the vehicle. Felt like somehting major has come loose. It is back at the dealer and I await the verdict. Not good after 1 week and I didn't cane it off road yesterday.
You guys are starting to turn me...I'm a fan of performance, and plan to get an XR8 as my next vehicle...but having a sit in a Mardarin TS Territory (result of urging from my partner) on the weekend was an eye opener. It was very impressive and has many benefits that are making me think whether or not I could for-go the thunder of the Boss V8 for the looks, flexibility, size and appeal of the Terri.
Its a hard one.

Stay tuned.
2 days later and still no diagnosis - let alone a cure. Dealer has been very good with loan car and I'm not too uptight -yet! One area that is of real concern is that the service crew don't seem to have a lot of understanding about the Terri. Want to talk to Ford before they start pulling things apart.
Toyota and Holden drivers at work are enjoying this hugely. At least my sense of humour is intact.

It is a very new model, the service techs will still be learning all the tech modules.
We seem to have an answer - a faulty bearing in a CV joint. Have seen the bearing and it looked awfully faulty too. All gray and black - not shiny like the others. Fingers crossed!

That is very odd.
Wonder if it missed being lubricated?
Normally they only failed from lack of lubrication.
Was it a drive shaft CV joint or the tail shaft joint?
