Re: Powerchip coming soon

Starting to feel a little boxed in here, so I have decided to state the following;

I am not in any way condoning the use of performance enhancing products, I am not a representative of the mentioned companies, nor do I have any interests with the mentioned companies.

I would like to improve the bottom end power & overall fuel economy of my territory, but I will not be using any untested products.

I have been told that fuel consumption improvements can be had from the Territory because the BA engine runs slightly on the rich side. This is not gospel.

Tonight I was embarassed to mention my fuel consumption figures when my friend told me his VY wagon did a trip fully loaded with family & things and got a fuel average of 8.6L/100

So my mentioning ECU enhancements are not for wheel scorching improvements, but for low end torque & fuel improvements. If a company can garantee me this, I will give it a try.

But then again I have always been different.

You should note Organza that an ECU is nothing more than a computer with inputs from a range of sensors and outputs to sparkplugs, fuel injectors, VCT, etc. It interprets the signals in and provides outputs that are CONSERVATIVELY set up to run on all Terris that come out of the factory. There's no individual tuning performed on a per-car basis. Those who chose a chip or Stealth product are choosing to tune their car at an individual level - no two engines are identical (just ask all the GM owners with their LS1's). Also no two owners want the same characteristics. I'm all for people tuning their vehicle to a setup that they prefer as long as it still meets emissions requirements and is still a safe engine.

If someone told me that a few hundred bucks of tuning could make mine run more efficiently on 98Ron and give a bit more torque in the bargain then I'd certainly go for it (maybe after my warranty is a bit older anyway)

Glad to hear that mate

Some people get very stroppy when others voice an opinion.

Good fuel consumption figures - but how accurate, remember, this is from a car company whose product range has cars that run out of fuel BEFORE the fuel gauge needle reaches empty (I think a certain P. Brock in Tasmania may remember this!).

Re: Powerchip coming soon

We have a VY II here at work and even when puttering around and alot of highway driving I struggled to around 13 to 14l/100km's. And this was with no load, so I would doubt he got those figures unless he has an EXTRODINARY commondore.....

There is something seriously wrong with your VY II

Even the V6 Adventra gets low 11's

Re: Powerchip coming soon

While this is not a thread on Commodore fuel consumption - my VT sedan used to get down to 9.0 l/100k on easy highway trips at around 100kph. Mind you my AWD Territory will get 11.5 under similar conditions.
