So what info do we know about it ?
when is it due to be released?

All that's certain is that it is AWD and probably RWD based on modified Falcon mechanicals. All contacts that I have inside Ford are understandable very tight lipped. When I had the opportunity to ask G.Polites & co they could confirm that it didn't yet have a name and that we haven't seen anything like it from anyone else yet.

Believed to be due out in 2004 and I would assume using Falcon engines (I6 and 5.4V8).

The R7 show car of last years Melbourne Motor Show is believed to be a good indicator of what to expect and most media believe there are strong similarities between our Falcon/Raptor products and the USA's 500 Sedan/Freestyle (originally dubbed CrossTrainer) though theirs will be AWD/FWD and V6 with CVT.

A concept of the Freestyle called Freestyle FX was shown in January at the Detroit Motor Show. Thread here;

R7 Showcar is damb close to reality from what I have heard!!

Just delete the 20" wheels that it had and the exterior is just about spot on!!

Not sure about the 5.4V8 though as I'd heard this did not form part of the engineering work for the car. Not all bad though!! Apparantly the turbo fits very nicely!!

Much has been said about the standard 2WD Wagon being dumped in preference to the Raptor.

So this begs the question. Will a std ride-height 2WD wagon based on the Raptor actually be offered in order to give us Wagon drivers a glimmer of hope for the future?

Or will it be high-riding 4WD only for Wagon lovers from now on?

Time will tell.

But I will say this:-

GIVE US A LOW RANGE OPTION OR ELSE!

There's my idle-threat quota for the day satisfied....

I doubt we will get a low range gearbox.

Hey Richo, it's DAMN !!!

Yeah my guess is that Raptor will have styling cues from the R7, but design cues from the Freestyle.. ie. Front end / profile will be more R7, but rear end may be multi-functional like Freestyle.

this car could be a real hit if its done right i like the freestyle back.
it could be a much more versatile vehicle than a falcon but without giving up the falcon driveline we all love.

i could see myself actually buying one of these.

i have heard the current BA chassis is essentially AWD ready. Is this true?
