hi has any one got the rex in there terri
and your thoughts on it
very pricey
or should i just get a screen only and put a ps2 under the seat
$3000 genuine or $1500-$1800 after market

any thoughts would be great
ps can you run headphones and car sound or just one at as time

I have the REX. It is a good unit but it and yes you can run head phones with or without speakers.

My REX makes a hum when you play DVDs through the speakers which Ford reckons is normal - I don't think it is but get your dealer to demo it for you first.

The REX is region 4 only which means you can't play imported DVDs which is a pain if you buy from Amazon etc.

In hindsight there are probably aftermarket sets that are as good or better and some even include TV tuners for half the price or less. These can all be hooked up to the stereo head unit by any smart installed as the inputs are all there.

I'd probably go for aftermarket unless they give you a real good deal on the REX.

with it down

because i have been quoted by strathfield 1300 for a 7 in monitor and power converter
and will by a secenhand ps2 180.00
and i will install still less than rex and will wire up the front screen too

by the way still very concerned about the small sub i love my bass and at the moment a have a 12" kicker in a box in a wagon so i may have to see if the terri amp can make it boggie

no problem seeing out the rear view mirror at all - you don't even see the screen. Have someone hold a post card or something near the roof and youi'll see what I mean.

Does the REX play home-burnt DVD's, or only shop-bought ones? Some DVD players have difficulty with home made DVD's.

You could always copy (make backups of) your non-region-4 DVD's and make them region free, (or even region 4). Free software will do it - all you need is a DVD burner on your PC. That way you can still buy from overseas.

Yes that is what I do - but the REX doesn't read DVD-R as well as commercial DVDs you get a lot more skipping and stopping. Works OK though.
