Teritory off road

Just wondering if anyone out there has had the opportunity to take the Territory off road yet.

I realise that this car is more your crossover/softroader vehicle and not intended to take on anything serious, however I was curious to see how well it goes on sand. I want a vehicle that can tackle your average beach access track and general beach conditions for fishing etc. Would prefer not to have to buy a full blown 4WD as I would prefer the car like dynamics of a car such as the Territory or perhaps even the Kluger. Saw pics of Territory on Frazer and heard that Ford ran some tests there but don't know if they tackled any of the inland sandy tracks that can involve some pretty steep climbs in soft sand.

AUSTRALIAN 4WD MONTHLY November 2004

KLUGER VS ADVENTRA VS TERRITORY VS OUTBACK

Quote:
With tyre pressure dropped (we ran 18psi), all can tackle sand, to varying degrees, as long as several people have been there before you – and there is someone there to tow you out. Got that? All but the Kluger got bogged – and the only reason it stayed high and dry was because we’d seen what happened to the other three. First to sink was the Adventra. Its rear wheels churn sand and its electronics can’t competently control them……
Next to sink was the Territory. Its more sophisticated traction control is actually quite good at getting it going and keeping its momentum up – you can hear the system working hard, but hardly feel it – but eventually gravity overcomes grunt when you try to turn across soft ruts.

We were blessed with 25cm of the white stuff (snow) the night before……
Particularly worthy of comment was the Territory – as well as going everywhere we pointed it, its dynamic stability control system (standard on AWD) could not be fooled, even with borderline stupid, heavy handed steering and braking.
