Is the Territory allowed in the Aussie Falcons forum?
Since nobody seems to like my 'tale of woe' threads, how about this one.
Is the Territory going to be considered a Falcon derivative and if so should it be a subject within the Aussie Falcons section of the forum?
No poll, just interested.
I probably have a leg up in information (I have ridden in a prototype), first impression is that it should be a good thing. Potential is there for a lot of the current tractors doing the rounds of the school pickups to be replaced with something that really does drive like a car, but positions the driver head and shoulders over the mob.
Unless of course the mob are all driving tractors.
Holden’s jacked up Commodore is nothing like what Ford have been up to.
Re: Is the Territory allowed in the Aussie Falcons forum?
Yep, totally agree with what you said about the "jacked up commodore", just a commadore wagon raised a bit. I think the Territory is a great car so far, I just hope it sells well (because much money must of been spent on it). Hopefully it will turn out to be a permanent addition to the Ford Australia line up.

Re: Is the Territory allowed in the Aussie Falcons forum?
The Territory better be a good thing, because one of the key 4x4 competitors in Australia (Toyota) already have their version out. Ford Aus cant afford to stuff this one up....
Toyota have just released the "Kluger", which is car like AWD. The Kluger has a 3.3l quad-cam V6 producing 172kW (very fuel efficient, while still powerful), 5-speed auto transmission, and do the 0-100km in 8.1 seconds. The entry level model has all the bells and whistles like dual airbags, cruise control, ABS, electric windows, and up to 7 seats. Price starts at $43,990.
In terms of styling, it looks alot like the Territory.
Rumour has it that the new Territory will break the 2-tonne mark, meaning another 300kgs on top of the BA, which you would expect from the 4x4 system, additional body size/panels..etc. If they use the same 4.0l barra engine, I doubt it will be able to out-run the Kluger. That is unless the Territory comes with a more powerful engine barra engine, 5 or even 6-speen auto transmission !. If it does, then we can be guaranteed that these will flow back into the BA as the series 2.
Bring on the Territory and falcon BA Series II !!!!!!
Re: Is the Territory allowed in the Aussie Falcons forum?
The Territory is heavier, not perhaps as much as some may think because a lot of the heavy bits (major floorpan, blade rear suspension) are already in the BA.
Six cylinder only, but there is a Turbo, although I think it is down on the XR6T version in kW.

Why is it takening so long to get too market ? It is obviously market ready. Sydney Car Show are going to have a Territory display. Then, not able to buy until June 2004...what the ?

Yep, I agree !
The Toyota Kluger is being released in Nov 2003, and is a cross-over that looks very similar to the Territory !
Nissan also has an equivalent called the "Dune Hawk" which was shown recently at the Frankfurt motorshow.
Holden of course have the Adventra, which is a Commordore station wagon with AWD drive-train and LS1 V8, and isn;t a real cross-over. But I am sure with Holden's "smoke and mirrors' marketing they will still manage to sell a few thousand before mid next year.
Maybe Ford is building them now, as I heard that the Cambellfield production line ceased work for a few weeks back in August for new machining and tooling to be integrated for the Territory, therefore I doubt many changes would occu between now and June 2004. Maybe they are tyring to build-up some stocks/volume before they open the "flood gates".
I believe they should launch in early 2004, and avoid being the "last-to-market".

Hey, If FPV vehicles (all Falcon derivates at present), and
XR6Turbos (Falcon derivates), and
Utes (all Falcon derivates) can have there own sections then I can't see why the Territory wouldn't.
Things it doesn't share with Falcon are;
Market niche
Front suspension
No V8 engine option
AWD option
any body panels
That's just what we know about now.
Also, don't go sticking it in the Ford trucks section either!
Already been discussed, we decided for now to put territory discussions into the pub, then once released for it to get its own section if volumes are sufficient.....
