Well yeah FPV T .... I fully agree that no Territory driver should get hung up about fuel economy because the rest of the car MORE than makes up for a slightly bigger fuel bill and I guess what you are saying is that;
If your 1700kg XR6 uses 13-14 litres per 100 k's around town, then expect to use 15-16 litres per 100 k's in your 2100kg Territory with an obviously inferior CD (coefficient of drag) number to boot (c/f Falcon) ....
To expect much different to this is just not realistic and if a potential or actual buyer can't handle using an extra 2 litres per 100k's then I'd have to suggest that they search for an alternative vehicle solution ....
but when looking for that alternative solution .... please let everyone know which 2000kg+ petrol auto SUV they find with better consumption .... coz we all know it isn't going to be a Cruiser (4.7 litre V8 and 2600kg), Patrol (4.8 litre I6 and 2450kg), Prado (3.4 litre V6 and >2000kg), Pajero (3.8 litre V6 and 2100kgs) or Adventra; LOL, don't make me laugh.
Our AWD Ghia has done 500Km and recently we averaged 11.6L Sydney - Cessnock (Hunter Valley) return, a 400Km round trip - quite reasonable with young family aboard.
Took the Ghia on the Highway last night, at 115 km/h the average fuel consumption was 13.3 L/100 km. When I turned the airconditioner of the fuel consumption instantly dropped to 12.3 L/100 km.
At 94 km/h - 9.8 L/100 km
At 120 kmh - 14.4 L/100
I have notice the fuel consumption is improving as I clock up more KM's. Hope it keeps getting better.
Not really - I'm down to about 19l/100km using PULP when driving around town. It's done about 900km now...
I have to admit my driving is about 90% peak hour. I hope to get it out on the highway next weekend so I'll see how it goes then.
I doubt I'll ever see 15l/100km in the city though :(
Wow, that is heavy.
The way you take off at the lights makes a big difference, I find it very hard to move off from the lights at light throttle.
I consciously try & accelerate as carefully as possible, doing this I average about 14.5 around the city. If I drive without care the consumption goes through the roof, 18 - 19L/100.

I'll see what I can do but if I thought a heavy foot was my problem - I wouldn't have bothered posting. I have been really babying it around and even wacked Premium Unleaded in to see if that made a difference.
Without changing my driving style the Subaru Outback I sold to buy the Territory used to get about 12l/100 km in the same traffic...
Perhaps it is me - I'll really limit the throttle this week and see what happens...

Nah ... I just reckon you're being a bit tough on yourself to expect the best figures for the car when its still bedding in a bit, especially only having done heavy city driving.
On my experience, you will find the first big improvement in economy at about 5000k's and then another smaller drop around 15-16,000 k's.
Tip ... don't worry about the fuel use ... just enjoy the car
