you will have to get the compputer updated for either one of them. cause your changing it from one size to another. oh yeah and on the spedomiter your actually going slower than it says.you might wanna go to the dealer to see if they can update that fo you.

Re: Territory Lowered

I'm pretty sure the lowered look they are going for is like the Gembella Cayenne's on these pages:

http://www.gemballa.com/indexe_bak.html

I'm picking up my new Territory next week and am now looking for some bling wheels. 22's is what I would prefer. Would look at 24's also. Just need more info on how this change will efect the vehicle.
Certainly interested in lowering it, just scoping for more info on both mods all around.

Anyone rec's on an air bagging outfit in Sydney? There are some good boys up in Gosford here that do mad stuff: http://www.thechoppershop.com.au/ but as with the other mods I would like to thoroughly investigate.

Also, any tips for a sub woofer installation?
I want to maintain as much space as poss in the rear as I have an 80 kg dog.
Tubes, custom fibreglass, boxes above each wheel tub? anyone?
Open to suggestion.

How has the tyre wear been since you went to Tempe Tyres? How professional were they? I have heard nothing but nightmare stories re them. Regardless, I'll head down for a look next week.

Re: Territory Lowered

AWD, how does this change the approach to lowering for this vehicle?

gbh, the fact that your talking 20+" rims and airbags tells me that your more interested in form than function. That is, whatever looks best regardless of whether it works well or not.

If you were to consider function important you should have realised that the AWD version fo the Territory comes with DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) whereas the RWD model does not.

One of the major inputs to the calibration of the DSC is the rolling radius, slip angle and general compliance of the standard AWD 17" tyres and the centre-of-gravity of the vehicle and roll angle that the suspension creates when at its standard height. Go changing any of that and you probably have totally stuffed the calibration of the DSC.

But given that you consider looks more important go right ahead. It should look great and I'd love to see it, but I won't be going for a drive in it.

Re: Territory Lowered

Does making all these type of modifications cancel out the new car warrenty from Ford?

Re: Territory Lowered

I hear you. This is why I'm discussing the options here with you first.

INVESTIGATING options.

I would love to have everything and the car working as stock. Obviously not possible.
The outcome maybe that I do nothing at all, or it may be that I just increase wheels and no lowering or bags, etc. We'll see based on the feedback received here.

If I was not buying for function, do you think I would have purchased a Territory?

Re: Territory Lowered

The main issue is calibration of the DSC. Have a read of this thread (link): Wheels - New Territory

Read the posts by user "Territory" he works at Ford on the Territory so he knows what he is talking about!

Re: Territory Lowered

I spoke to a friend of mine who is a Bob Jane franchisee yesterday.
Apparenty they have had a directive from head office not to alter Territory wheels from stock as they feel the load bearing capability of the studs is not giving them enough confidence to do so.

This could well be just to cover their arse incase anything happened in the future, who knows?

As long as the overall radius doesn't change then the load on the studs won't change so if you're going up a couple of inches in the wheels and going lower profile it should be around the same load. Surely the studs are no different to any other 2tonne 4WD??
