Territory production line?

Hey all im confused! Everyone knows fords bascially at a flat out pace to build the Falcon to meet demand right?

Well considering territory is built here as well, where are they finding the extra man power to build these?

Are they going to reduce the output of the Falcon, to cater for the Territory or something?

thanks

Re: Territory production line?

from what we saw at the ford production plant, they are rolling off the territory with the falcons. dont remember exactly what the ratio was, but they were coming off the line at the same time, one after the other.

Re: Territory production line?

There is now a second shift running to accomadate the extra numbers. Territorys are built at a ratio of 1 to 3 with the Falcon so that every third vehicle will be a Territory.

520 vehicles per day , 130 territorys as from mid sept. The assembly fixtures on the production line spin 180deg with a falcon fixture on one side and a territory one on the other

Re: Territory production line?

Ford actually increased production in late August, to 75 Units Per Hour. That equates to I THINK about 560 per day doesn't it????

It was recently ~70UPH, with a total capacity of about 520 per day (I remember looking up and seeing Scheduled 520 cars before production end for a day, before the increase in production speed.) They done this not to compromise Falcon production amounts due to Territory.

1 car off the line every 48 seconds!!

Re: Territory production line?

On another Ford forum, some where saying Ford had stopped
saturday production of the Territory.

Any one heard this rumour?

I thought they couldn't build enough for demand.

Are the Territory sales high enough for Ford?

Re: Territory production line?

Wish they would slow down just a little and look at the quality of their cars a bit harder. I've never seen a nicer car in white than the XR8 I saw on the weekend. I want to buy one and my dads after a Territory. We're just a bit to scared of the quality stories going around at the minute (moreso with the Falcon). :(

The problem is for every bad story a 1000 more good stories go untold..as is the nature with anything..

Can I suggest the following: order what you and come delivery hand-over DON'T make final (financial) settlement until a very close inspection by yourselves (look at the cars as though you were a crime investigator), noting everything that concerns you in writing BEFORE YOU SIGN the release with your salesman and getting him to co-sign any problems you may find. You do have a 3 year warranty and if things are picked up before delivery or by the 3,00km service you should be OK. I also suggest even delaying the delivery time to morning/lunchtime where you have bright sunshine when you can spend as much time as you need and not at 5.55pm at the end of the week when everyone just wants to go home quickly.

Thanks for that Curls. It's good advice, and definitley something I'll practice (even though it might annoy the salesman). 3 year warranty is good. I just don't want to have to use it. :)

Its funny you mention a saleman not enjoying a more "pedantic" inspection. Our wagon was chained off by yellow plastic chains conected to yellow painted steel poles the day before I picked it up. I noticed on delivery day that the right rear bumper/panel join had yellow scratches, not major but very obvious. The dealership sales manager, who was handling my delivery, actually said "that won't bother you will it?", I just stared back at him and said, "no less then you minding if I call my finance company and tell them to delay their EFT of the settlement". ..he got the point and I got the damage listed in the customer acceptance form with the repair done at 3,000km.
