Hi,
I have a Territory RWD with the 2300kg towpack and was towing a car trailer and part completed hotrod (probably 1500kg for car and trailer). Once the speed got up to around 75km/h plus there was a noise coming from the rear of the Territory that sounded like a noisy bearing. Once the noise started you could hear it even down to as low as 30km/h. Once the trailer was taken off, the noise disappeared.
Dealer I spoke to has not heard of this problem before and will look at it at the end of this week. Has anybody else experienced this noise while towing?

sure it wasnt the trailer bearings and the noise was being transmitted back through the draw bar to make it sound like it was coming from the back of the car ?

The noise is definitely coming from the car. A mate of mine climbed into the back to have a good listen. Also noise is not apparent when trailer is towed with another vehicle.

What are the total kilometers your Territory has covered?

And how many km's of towing before the noise was evident?

No noise at all from the car (RWD) when towing my boat trailer.

Total km's is around 13,000. Travel for maybe 3 or 4 mins before noise starts. Did not notice noise until I was up to 70 - 80km/h but then after that, the noise can be heard from as slow as 30-40km/h.

Maybe its something to do with the fitting of the towbar. Was it factory fitted or dealer fitted?

Hope I'm wrong, but it sounds like the Pinion bearing.

Dealership will find out, keep us informed.
