Re: Territory's sucess

Re: Territory's sucess

i dunno i keep hearing about the territory but they really should of brang it out sooner not later.

NO v8 ,mmmm that might hurt in sales, nothing beats a 4bee V8 whether it breaks records of such who knows i hope it does well..

maybe bringing it out before holden brang out its toys might of helped just to get ppl to get familiar with the car as its new make etc will hinder it.

Re: Territory's sucess

Well after seeing them at SMS, I think they are lovely, but I dont think I will bne buying one now.

Which is a disappointment coz few months ago I was definitely going to get one, but now I've changed my mind. Heres why.

1- Price. The word seemd to be that tthere are 4 models, low spec 2wd, lo spec 4wd, hi spec 2wd, hi spec 4wd (They gunna give these things names?). The starting price for low spec 4wd is gunna start at about $40K, by the time yo add one or two options and onroad costs, you are prob up around 45K. (I dont think there will be many cheap deals in the early days). The hi spec 4wd is prob 10-15 more.

2- Rear room. A huge negative for me was that the 3rd seat is one piece. THis means if you only have one person in row 3 you cant fold down the other sside for more luggage. With row 3 up theres not heaps of storage behind it, onlya few bags. One time I would want a person in the very back is holidays and long trips when the kids get grumpy when squeezed together (He pinched me,,i want to be next to window,, etc) but htis is the time i need lots of bag room, so cant have 3rd row up.. when we just going shopping etc, they can squeeze into row 2. Cars such as Kia Carnival etc have slit row 3 so I can have one kid and bags.

Also row 3 did look a bit tight to me, and not as comfy as row 2.... more fights.

3- unknown resale. Spend 45K on one of these and its a sales disaster and then try to resell it in 3-4 years? (can anyone spell P76?) It may be agood car, but its an unknown bet.

4- Too far away. First it was Sept 03, then Nov 03, then march 04, now june 04. Im not going to buy any car til Ive tested it and driven it a bit. If its launched in June and I get down my dealer on day 1, pick my options and colours, do my deal, arrange finance etc, then wait for it to be built, and delivered, I can see it being sept o later before i take it home. (My current sted is due rego in march..i dont want to pay 12 months rego it just to sell it 2-3 months later)

5- Series one blues. I think i would rather wait and see how they go, are early buyers having lots of faults, reliability recalls etc? Maybe i should wait 12 months til they got them sorted. but i need a new car now.

So. it looks like a Futura sedan or a Korean 7 seater wagon (Trajet- Kia Carnival- Nimbus) for me.

Perhaps in 3-4 years time I will think again.

Not without a couple of live axels, an extra 300mm ground clearance and an extra 600mm of wheel actuation...

I think you'll find the Futura wagon with some options will put you over $40K quite easily.

Funnily enough theres no way I would buy a BA wagon. i dont like them at all.
If I buy a Falcon, it will be a sedan. If I want more then 5 seats I will get a People mover, but if i can live with just anormal back seat I will get a sedan.

But your point on price is still just as valid... (perhaps a near new or exdemo...)

Sorry, what's more valid to me is my bad eyesight, never even noticed "sedan" after Futura. When you have to carry a 36Kg Golden Retriever and pram, a wagon was my only option. It hurt even more when I realised an XR6T was cheaper (just) as the wagon became a burger with the lot!!

Re: Territory's sucess

I saw one the other day on Rosanna rd. If i must say so, it looked pretty good.

I mean, im 20, and i wouldn't mind pottering around in one of those. They look pretty trick.

Anyways, im sure it will sell, but thats no tthe key to everthing though. As has been said before, it really needs to steal sales from competitors, not from its own line up.
