Ford plan to sell 2000 per month and that is a very conservative number they have set for themselves. I have heard prices will start well below $40000 and that alone will bring in a lot of sales. I assume Ford will spend a fortune on advertising as we have started to see ads for it already, like the sight screens at the cricket that say New Ford Territory.

2000 a month would make it the 3rd biggest seller in the country in September ... I'm not yet convinced that the Territory is going to work - Holden/et al have gone niche with their AWD vehicles. Ford is going mainstream, and that is far riskier ....
maybe you guys all live in the city or dont have a family but these mid tier 4wds are all the rage. for ford not to build one would be to foolish. i am surprised it has taken this long for it to happen and they should be applauded for making a serious attempt at gaining market share with a dinkum example.
i drive a BAGT but the better half has a 7 seat 2002 nissan patrol TI.
i for one will seriously consider the ford option (territory) next time round.
it does sound a much cheaper option than patrol/landcruiser and might be a little easier to operate in normal day to day operations, parking etc.
one thing tho, a boss donk would be nice, so hopw about a v8 version...
With Falcon wagon sales now almost fully fleet/company based (apart from our own wagon) the Territory will hopefully bring back more buyers. With a higher seating position, shorter wheel base then wagon, wider opening rear doors then any BA based model, same interior size as BA, reputed handling that is superior to most softroaders of high body design, high series variants of Fairmont/Ghia levels (ie. leather, sat-nav, climate control etc...), option of RWD & AWD, enough storage compartments to require a directory it has a great chance of lifting Ford sales. Sure no V8 option, but apart from X5, ML ( not same buyer demography I know) no other model of similar size is a V8 either and should have best if not equal class performance levels. Price will be a huge factor but I think base-speccing it higher then Futura will help. I really think that if the driving dynamics are as good as I'm expecting and basing it on a BA sedan is a very good start, with a new front suspension design to also provide a better turning circle as well, then Ford will have a winner. This segment has more competition but say compared to the Holden AWD which is on a huge wagon length wheel-base I think Ford have targeted a larger pool of potential buyers in the first place.
Just my crystal balling, now if only "some-one" would bring one over for a bayside spin!!!
Actually, now that I think about it, if it is viewed like a wagon replacement, it should do very well. As long as the RWD price is around that of a Futura Wagon and the High Series RWD is around the price of a Ghia Wagon equivelant (cause they don't exist) then this thing will soar.
We all know there are lots of people who want a wagon for the family with luxury, so the RWD will be it! And those in the market for a softroader... the AWD will be it!
As we all seem to agree, price is the one thing that will make or break this car.

Jeep Grand Cherokee - and they don't move that many of them either.....
Lets just hope that the Territory isnt another Avalon - the car which Toyota thought they could sell 2000 a month.
The interesting thing for me at the SMS was the number of women making approving comments, including my wife.
Also don't sell the fleet market short, as reps have a life outside work too!
