I am one of the people, and there was absolutely no way I was expecting the Territory to be extremely competant off road, even reading about it having AWD, stability control etc etc. The advertisement for it isn't misleading at all from my point of view, the only major thing it is shown doing on there is crossing a river (yes I am aware that it buggered up on the 6000km test on a river crossing) but I still personally dont see how people (media included) can assume that with all this info at hand that it would be able to do anything special off road. No great abilities are implied...in fact with the Territory being offered in AWD as well as RWD I would have thought most people would have realised that it isn't intended to be a bush traveller at all. Rather I would have thought most people would see that it can carry 7 people, and it sits up high like a 4WD.
The fact that the media liked to make up their own mind that all of the Territory, Kluger and Adventra should be able to handle tough stuff in the bush is totally beyond me. I don't see how, with all of the information available to them that they believed that people/themselves think that it should be good off road.
I'm sorry, but the criticism of the off road capabilites are annoying me, purely and simply because some people seem to be stupid enough to think that because it is an AWD that looks like a 4WD it should be able to conquer mountain trails. It is not what it was designed for, and I cant see how Ford have implied it.
