I am not going to deny its a nice car for an intended purpose, but they did try to make us think they were as capable as any other 4 wheel drive. One Holden dealer made that claim to me about the Adventra - and anybody should know thats a stupid statement to make...
But there is a report on Drive about people who were fooled....
"When the going gets tough"
"Ford's Territory off-roader is more than adequate around the 'burbs. But it has disappointed those who actually take it off-road. Herald readers will recall it struggled in Drive's exclusive 6000km outback trek in June and was outgunned in a similar test conducted by Channel Nine's The Car Show. Now the respected 4WD magazine Overlander has rated the Falcon-based wagon behind the rival Toyota Kluger, as Drive did, with several problems showing up once the going got tougher. Curiously, one such problem replicated Drive's experience with a front suspension clunk."
If people want to go off road seriously then they should get a patrol or somehting like that. What twat takes a territory into the desert or alike?..Really.
Its like saying that the patrol, while we quite able off the beaten track seems to feel like a tanker around the 'brubs. Talk about pointing the obvious out.
I seriously cannot remember an add were ford said or shows the terry doing serious off road work. Is there an add of the terry going to Mars :/ I dont think so.

You missed my point, I am not trying to prove it, I am saying people were speculating that because it has higher clearance and drives 4 wheels, it will do the same job. Obviously they went out and bought them believing it. The journalists in the motoring magazines tend not to like Landcruisers, so they wanted to believe it too..... And now the evidence comes out.
From what ive read, the territory was designed as an all-round car. Something that could take the kids to soccer, go to the supermarket, drive on the beach, go over speed bumps... but it wasnt designed to tackle the big stuff..
It gives justification for people that want a 4wd....but don't actually want to go four wheel driving (hence the rwd option)
I think you're just stiring shyte! Ford never said it was a landcruiser competitor or anything.
It's a new product that will and is making its own market, one that the adventra can't seem to do.
Look at the sales, people seem to be quite happy with them, all comments i've heard anyway.
What part of the first line of my initial post did you not understand? I said it has it's intended purposes, if you have not read anything in Wheels Magazine about car based SUVs being just as good as the older and bigger ones off-road - you haven't missed much but that's what i am getting at... I am not saying the Territory is not a good car, i am not saying it wont sell. Gee its a car, dont be so sensitive, you're acting like i am criticizing one of your family members.
When all else fails point at the scoreboard ie. sales figures.
75 % of people are going for RWD anyway.
Doesn't seem the demand was ever that great for AWD.
