the only thing its got in common with teh escape in the looks department is the fact it has 5 doors, a 4 wheel drive system, 4 wheels blah blah

Don't think the BA suffered from this marketing although it really pissed off some in the press media especially ( great I say) in fact I think it helped sales as we all new far more about the cars by the time they were ready for delivery and it's a good way of keeping those undecided from jumping into an oppostion brand before they get a serious look.

I don't think it's a problem. Us car nuts are always reading the car guides, surfing the web for more info etc. etc. Too much info. is still not enough for some around here.

Ask the average Joe if they know about the Territory and they might have a vague awareness. Media saturation is absolutely necessary, just check the "Drive" section of the age or "Carsales" and you'll see that any press-release stays at the top of the pile for 2-3days at most and then gets sucked into the archive vortex.

What seems like overhype to us barely shows on the radar of the general public.

I think they look great in lighter colours. Lightening Strike and Offshore and really set it off. In fact Offshore and Zest seem tour suit the Terrier more then Falcon.
