Re COTY

Now the Territory is going to be more popular than ever, I wonder how its going to affect trade in values in the next few years.
I'm about to buy one.............

Re: Territory Wheels COTY

Strong private buyer interest usually helps hold up residual values. Its the huge fleet and government volumes passing through the auctions that tend to drag down residual values.

Territory got news ltds coty award too and Fairfax Drives nod.

come on Ford how about an ad promoting all this
"Drive a winner.
Drive a ford!"
Not Overlander sorry, that was Land Rover - but don't forget to mention the Australian Design Award last year.

I visit this forum regularly but this must be the first thread that got to page 2 before I even saw it! I'm still hanging out for Wheels to turn up in the local newsagents. I have to say the news isn't a surprise though - sort of bleeding obvious. More interesting is whether any other car was listed as a close contender. I hope the message is sinking in publicly that the Territory is something totally new, not just another SUV.

More to the point, why do they keep on buying Japanese SUVs?

Re: Territory Wheels COTY

Congratulations to everyone at Ford for their COTY win.

I love the car, enjoy driving it every time I get in it, and would love a turbo model for my next update - you've got 12 mths :-)

What odds another win with the new Focus this year? Reading about the car at www.ford.co.uk and you'd have to say that it sounds like a pretty formidable car that seems to have the Astra and Mazda 3's measure.

Well from My point of view I's about 1000 times easier to buy a dunnydore than a ford. Having just bought my teritory (Ghia AWD), I can honestly say that I came very very close to giving up and gatting an adventra. (Glad I didn't).
With Holden you go on the web site, configure a car and get a printable quote. With ford you go on the web site configure a car and get thrown out. After 5 emails, and 3 phone calls finally someone says " oh it only works with internet explorer" So to buy a ford first you gotta run windows.
Ok go over to the kids PC and fire up i.e., configure a teritory and "your quote will be sent to you by mail"
At this stage I gave up on the web and started doing the rounds. Seems ford dealers were only too happy to write you a quote, but not very forthcoming and/or knowlegable with options etc. In contrast holden/toyota dealers would explains *every* option available.
I persisted simply because the teritory is so much better than the adventra and kluger but If I was shopping for a sedan where the differences are not as great I would have given up on the fords long ago.

I agree.

Ford Dealerships have a lot to learn from the others.

Re: Territory Wheels COTY

you keep mentioning SUVs... so was the territory a car or SUV? If you asked me... the award should have gone to a "car"... ie not a SUV. SUVs are tested in 4wd magazines. You dont see Ford Falcon winning the Overlander 4WD of the year do you?

Wheels axplains that they have moved with the marketplace.

SUV's are in COTY because that's what people buy them for, to use as cars.
Light trucks (Hilux etc) and 4WD's that retain a rigid front axle are clearly aimed at the 4wd enthusiaist so are not considered for COTY and the long standard COTY criteria hasn't changed.

The fact that the Territory won the COTY award against all the traditional 'cars' must surely tell you something!

It's the best of both worlds.
