I think from previous fuel economy comments by others your 13.5 while running up to 160 is pretty OK for this vehicle. A commie is about half the height so about half the frontal area. The drag on a Terri will always be higher than a commodore - that would hold true for any 4WD shaped vehicle.

If a Terri did the same fuel economy as a Commodore then you'd see a whole bunch of GM (and others) engineers committing suicide :-)

At 160kp/h the Terri is using loads more than 13.5.

Re: Ticking Noise

Ford Service acknowledged that theres an irregular noise eminating from the vehicle.
Cant be heard in the engine bay but can be heard in the cabin and its linked to the engine revs.

They advised to re-book it in at the 3000k service and they will look at it. Unfortunately it looks as thought the dash MAY have to be removed. But only after they've checked all the usual suspects.

I'm a tad bit worried !!!

Will report back in mid January.

That must be the noise the service rep was telling me about at the 3000km service; he reckons Ford do not know exactly what it is & are stilling working on a fix, at the moment there is a temp fix available. He told me if I hear it let them know & they will do the temp fix.

Its not the fuel injectors or the engine as far as I can tell, as the noise is not synchronised with either of them, and its there when driving or idling.
Cheech - did you get an update on this? I've still got a ticking sound when the engine's loaded, I've never had a Barra before and am not sure if it's a normal sound or not. It sounds a bit like valve-noise when low on oil. If anyone with more Barra experience has an answer that'd be great.

Vehicle goes in for service & fix on 17/1. Will post update.

NB. Ford service say the sound is NOT normal. They just had too many staff away over Xmas to look at it properly.

Re: Ticking Noise

I think I may have the same sound on my November build Ghia. Mine is a fluttery sound more than ticking, seems to be coming from the engine bay, is present during steady running and accleration but not coasting. Engine load related, not engine speed related.

To me it sounds like exhaust noise (from the manifold towards the cat converter) getting through the sound insualtion. If I have the sound system on there's no way I'd hear it.

It would be nice to see it go but it wont be a problem if it stays.

Re: Ticking Noise

Service manager has just called... He reckons its normal operating noise and
that every Territory does it. (Yet the loaner Terri dosen't). Not happy and I think they've just given up.

Should I just live with it ? ( and turn the music up )

PS. I also had an issue with the paint coming off the front bumper edges (where it joins the front quarter near the wheel arch). I had the color coded option.
