Service manager has just called... He reckons its normal operating noise and that every Territory does it.
If it took 3 days to decide it was 'normal', obviously (to me at least) that is an outright lie as it would have been described as such as soon as dealer staff heard it the first time.
Remember,

If it was irregular the first time, then it still is now and should be fixed.
It took me more than 12 months to get dash noise in my Falcon subdued to the point I will live with it, but still don't like or accept it as 'normal'.

Suppose I'll just buy the bottle of touch up paint.
Think I'll do this tonight
Hi Cheech,
If it were a paint adhesion issue, you'd have more widespread paint loss over time in the same area. If this ends up being the case, Ford will cover it.
I purchased a Terri AWD Ghia in December and I have the same ticking sound. It its not loud but once you tune in to it you cant ignore it. It is quite annoying.
Another problem I have is a ticking when shifting for 3 to 4th and vise versa under load.
I have booked a drive with Dealer and Eon next week and hope to get this resolved.
As mines not coming from the engine bay ( ay least it dosen't seem to be)
I'm trying to get info on moving parts behind the dash.
Anyone got any ideas..... as its linked to the RPM's I'm guessing that
it could be a noisy tacho sender. (But I'm only guessing as I freely admit that the limit of my expertise is changing the oil & oil Filter).
Mr. Territory if you read this, perhaps you may have some suggestions as to any moving bits behind the dash ?

I think it may be something to do with harmonics, sound traveling through something, like an air con pipe, to a part that reverberates.

Hi Johnny,
I think you may be on to something.
The noise ( I have two and this is not the transmission tick) seems to be coming from the front left front behind the LCD display. It is a cross b/w bearing, induction and ticking noise in all gears. It is there on acceleration, deceleration and as Cheech said in a previous post. (It is tied to revs.)
I cant help but thinking it a normal engine/transmission noise that has not been isolated from the cabin by insualtion etc.
When I drove another AWD TX it was no where near as loud or annoying as as mine and I would happily accept it.
I have it book for next week for inspection as mentioned and i will forward the result.
--> One when the interior fan / a-c is running. If i turn it up to full then down low again, it goes away.... for a while. Must be a wobbly mounted fan in there somewhere. Or a leaf stuck in HVAC air intake area.
--> Second one i used to get when the engine was cold and i was accelerating onto the freeway (engine had done approx 30000km) - high pitched ticking in time with engine revs, goes away when off load. I didnt get it looked at, and it seems to have gone away. I did have a mild oil leak at one stage, which was a loose sump plug leaking oil. i wonder whether whilst cold the top end was a bit starved of oil +/- a valve was sticking.
Not all that helpful, as the sound has since gone away since the last service (now 15000km ago). But I'm guessing that was the problem.
I guess i'm really suggesting keeping a close eye on oil level........
My $0.02.
