Guy's, sources tell me that it's actually a Bose system and the speakers are quite good and all they need is a bit more power going to them and they sound a treat. So a simple option would be to just fit an amp - but the question is then where to put it?
Bose, no way mate. More like Sanyo or Pioneer, not that Bose is good, just good at marketing.
Wouldnt be Sanyo, not by a long shot! Most likely either Alpine or Panasonic, as they do the BA's sound systems. AUs were Alpine, E Series was Pioneer, and early E Series was possibly Clarion, not sure.
Sound system is definitely Sanyo.
Amp under seat is badged, and Ford owns Sanyo
FMS (Ford, Mazada, Sanyo)
The system does sound great for a standard fitment. But could be better.
Door speakers are the weak point. 6" driver integrated into plastic housing. Am having them replaced with some good JVC 6" splits. Have to modify the enclosures, but not too hard.
The amp ratings claim 250W, but this is marketing hype. May be a PMPO rating, but true RMS would be more like 15-20W per channel max.
I read i write up in INCAR magazine on the BA Fairmont system, same as TS/Ghia Terri unit, that it was made by FMS (Ford, Mazda, Sanyo). While it's a huge leap over what I've had I'll admit to being somewhat disappointed if this is Ford's 'Premium' sound system.
Ferris, I'd like to know how your new speakers go.
sorry to sound stupid but as I do not yet have a territory i was wondering if someone could tell me what size the stocker sub and where it is located.
Also is the sub the only speaker driven by the amplifier and if so could the amp be disconnected and replaced by a better amp with some changes to the system to say add a new sub and rear speakers?.
