Question Wait for options

I been told that the Territory I have ordered (TX RWD Offshore with alloys, cruise, rear cargo shelf, fog lights and tinted windows) is in the yard but due to the popularity of some accessories especially fog lights they are finding it difficult to source as they have been very popular options. They also told me they may have trouble getting the alloys as well as they been in short supply. I feel good as it shows how popular the vehicle is but I just can't wait to get it. I've never been so keen to pick up a new vehicle. Has anybody else heard of troubles with waits for optional accessories ?

Oh No!!!
I hope not. I have been waiting 11 weeks for mine (TX AWD) and it is at the dealers as of last Thursday awaiting Dealer Options to be fitted. I have been told it should be ready Wednesday/Thursday. I hope they are not yanking my chain about this delivery date......
I will let you know
Regards

Re: Wait for options

Hmmm, think I'll order the TS with factory options only; HDC, colour co-ord, prestige (non white) paint, tow hooks, 3rd row seat. Anything else that needs to be on that shopping list?

I couldn't stand it to be sitting in a dealer yard and not available to me. I'll get the dealer fitted stuff later, kids are demanding a DVD player (REX3 system)!

Re: Wait for options

I was initially going to go for the TX, but I didn't like the trim. They I thought I might get the TS, but by the time I added a couple of options it wasn't that far off the Ghia.

Then I got in touch with the Dalby dealer who had the right coloured Ghia (lightning strike) + the 7 seat option + no hill descent control (didn't want it). And suddenly my wallet was a LOT lighter.

I actually had to wait a few weeks to organise the funds. That was a long wait, knowing it was sitting there waiting for me!

Edit : My wife and kids were keen on the Rex but when I thought about how much it would cost for the times we would actually use it I couldn't justify it. Maybe because I wouldn't be using it... Selfish bugger.

Don't blame you...$3285 buys a lot of home entertainment system/family holiday/other Terri accessories/fuel for the year

Rod, there are other threads with early owner experiences, but I'll add mine here for you to save you looking for them.

**********************

Had mine a month now and I'm very happy with it. I haven't towed anything with it but I'm sure it would do a great job given the torque characteristics of the engine.

It is truly excellent in the city traffic with the only issue I've come up against being a bigger blind spot at the C pillar than you would be used to if you came out of a Falcon. But the car is an easier drive in traffic and better than a Falcon for sure. Yes I know that is a revelation because a BA is a great thing to drive as well, just that the Territory is even better!

Fuel use is the only thing you'll have to get used to in a Territory over a Falcon. In the city, if you used 14 litres per 100km before you'll use 16-17 in a Territory. The actual extra fuel used doesn't bother me but I have noticed the extra visits I've had to make to fill up. If the car had a decent 100 plus litre tank it wouldnt be noticeable I guess, but with only an extra 7 litres capacity over a Falcon (75 litre tank) its not enough to mask the extra use.

The REAL important thing to focus on though is that the Territory's positives vastly outweigh the couple of detriments outlined above. Couldn't be happier with the car and have to congratulate the Ford engineers for the wonderful job they've done. I'd love to try a turbo model if it ever comes out. Would be some SUV, that's for sure.

I only hope Territory (and Ford) gets the true kudos it deserves because it has a Ford oval badge on it rather than a Bayerische Motoren Werke (BMW) propellor badge.

Re: Wait for options

I bought a portable dvd player with a 7 " screen from aldi which is an absolute ripper. it straps onto the the front seat head rest. very compact excellent picture head phones or speakers, lots of accessories. runs of battery cig lighter or normal power point. cost $400.00 I was told that either LG or Sanyo make electrical stuff for aldi by the shop manager. I probably would have contemplated the entertainment system otherwise but probably wouldn't have been willinig to pay that much.
