Re: What would you change for the next model Territory?

Do mean a steel wheel that looks the same as the TX steel wheel or an alloy one ? You can buy a spare alloy wheel as an option for $380 - it's in the options list.

Re: What would you change for the next model Territory?

I'd like to see a change to the transmission where if I downshift at highway speeds using the 'tiptronic' feature, it shifts to 3rd, not 2nd. I know I can get around it by upshifting first but surely it could be set up to avoid that. I assume it's an issue for the Falcon as well.

ok, my 40cents worth,

Coming from an BA XR8 ute, having gone 200km west of bourke in it and wishing i had a territory -
Bigger fuel tank (ie same as ute if not more)
Higher ground clearance then current (believe it or not we caught up to a RAV4 who was too scared to go over 60km/h - gees those toyotas a tough, haha)
More poke? I'm sitting on the fence here.....

DCOZ,
A steel wheel that looks the same as the others. I would think that if Ford bothered to go full size spare wheels (steel or alloy) that they would be the same as the other four on the vehicle.

I think it is shifting to 2nd because when you push the stick over to the left it locks out 4th gear, so if you then flick it back a gear it will then go to second from 3rd. It should never go down 2 gears at a time.

Just shows... tiptronic on a 4 speed is a waste of time! Locks out 4th? which u wouldnt use in a sporty driving style anyway, nor would u flick to 1st
Just leaves the toggling between 2nd and 3rd - OH how fun! - bring on the 6 speed for that. Even still, when i am driving any tiptronic 4 speed or 6, i NEVER use it.

It does not lock out 4th gear, it only uses 4th in performance mode for speed above 120kmh. It depends on how fast you are travelling, if you are travelling around the 60khm mark it will drop back to 2nd, if you are around the 90kmh mark it goes into 3rd.

Re: What would you change for the next model Territory?

OK - so I took mine out on the freeway (level road, in 'normal' Drive) to see if I was imagining things - downshift at 90kmh, went to 2nd, at 100Kmh - to 2nd, at 110kmh to 2nd, at 120kmh - to 3rd. It's a RWD.

I'd rather it go to 3rd each time, not drop two gears. Maybe mine has a problem, would be interested to hear if others do this.

I got the impression that it doesnt shift to 3rd when I put it into Performance, I believe it just disengages the Torque convertor lockup in 4th. I can manually put it into 3rd if I upshift when I first move the lever to performance. Then once it's slowed a bit, I downshift to 2nd. Much smoother.

Re: What would you change for the next model Territory?

Maybe I should have read the book first. On P.303 it says that just shifting to 'Performance' changes to 3rd (unless you're going over 150kmh - which we all do - right ? - and then it changes to 4th instead). So a downshift then would take it to 2nd.

If you use it in performance mode it locks out 4th until you hit 120, exactly what I was trying to say, but in every state bar the NT you can't travel legally at 120, so when you are sitting on the highway in a 100 zone it keeps it in 3rd and sits on 3000rpm and increases your fuel consumption. It should be able to go into 4th when it reconizes you are just cruising until you hit the accelerator, and that should automatically shift it back to using 3rd. I guess that might not work as some people like to leave it in 3rd to tow etc.
