Re: What would you change for the next model Territory?

How about getting back on topic of what you'd like to see change in Territory?
Or maybe it's time to close down this thread?

I think we've just run out of ideas Apart from cosmetic stuff to keep the Terri fresh, and the 6 speed auto, everything else is relatively minor and all quite do-able by Ford if they choose to do so.

In terms of prioritising "fixes" I'd say that the auto would be a good start in that you can simply buy that in. The two items that need a lot of work are quality and service.

TQM has to become a part of Ford's culture - including it's suppliers. There are too many items getting through the net that would never appear in a Japanese car.

Service has to become part of the Ford dealer culture - particularly in relation to after-sales service. The service you receive undermines the quality of the vehicles and reduces their desirability. Good customer management is about making people WANT to buy a Ford, not just once but multiple times. Leaving the service portion to chance should not be an option for Ford - there should be a deliberate attempt at providing a consistant quality product at the service counter.

I was told by the dealer, when collecting my Territory this week, that a stretched wheel base Territory in luxury trim (ie Fairlaine/LTD spec) is being looked at.

Re: What would you change for the next model Territory?

1. The Bing, Bing, Bing when the car has 80kms left. The misses drives it locally so It will bing, bing, bing for a three or four days. I think 40kms would be fine.
2. A rear door that shuts.
3. Lights in the back corners so you can see with the cargo area hardcover in position (even folded back).
4. I'm used to rolling down hills tapping the brakes to get the car to oscilate around the speed limit. The territory drops back and holds the car below the limit. I find myself rolling down hill with my foot on the accelerator.
5. I'd like to be able to hold the interior light button in and have it not come on (till I push it again), so I don't wake my little fella every time I open a door.
6. The seat belt bing, bing, bing should only work in Drive.

The seatbelt BING BING BING (i like the way you put it) should only work when the car is going faster than 20kph. Problem in the Caprice too. You leave it in Park with the motor running to keep the car cool, and DVD going, ya gotta put up with that noise which sucks.

The speed alarm sound could be a bit gentler, for example a double PE-PE!.

The same time 80km BING, BING fuel alarm would be fine on freeway.

Re: What would you change for the next model Territory?

The Bing, Bing, Bing seems to only work for me when the wheels actually start to turn. Try the belt reminder sound when the hazzards are on! (different sound).

One other thing I would like changed is: the rear power outlet, needs to be tucked around the corner more. Tending to bend the power adapter of our fridge with the baby pusher going in and out of the back. The power adapter sticks out and is elevated slightly. My wife isn't the most careful in the world and needs these things a little more concealed and less likely to be broken.

Re: What would you change for the next model Territory?

Re the windows, I'd just like to add that the VW vans at my work have not only got auto up and down on both front windows, even after the key's been removed from the ignition, (for 30 seconds or so) but they also automatically go down if something stops the window from closing. An arm or even a few fingers caught whilst a window's being closed will activate the auto-down.

After picking up our territory ghia I hoped this safety feature may have been included especially for the sake of curious kids in the back. True there is the window lock on the drivers door but accidents happen and it's a nifty feature that not only protects body parts but perhaps the window glass and mechanism itself.
