In the Territory manual it states that your Ford Service Department can disable the seat belt warning BING BING.
When the T was in for a service, I asked them to do this as we have a long dirt driveway and have to get in and out to open gates (and never go faster than about 20kmh anyway).
They disabled the BING BING, tested it, gave it back to me, I tested it on the way home, by the time I got home, stopped to open the gate and BING BING BING!!! I have had them try it again and it appears that it cannot be disabled as it can in the BA!!??!!
Very strange....

An arm or even a few fingers caught whilst a window's being closed will activate the auto-down.
After picking up our territory ghia I hoped this safety feature may have been included especially for the sake of curious kids in the back. True there is the window lock on the drivers door but accidents happen and it's a nifty feature that not only protects body parts but perhaps the window glass and mechanism itself.
I think auto up/down windows should be STANDARD on top-spec models (and on ALL windows).
Unless there's some absurd ADR that prevents this, as many windows as possible should have it.
Re: What would you change for the next model Territory?
Auto up windows have an inherent safety risk for children so all modern versions must have a pressure-sensor safety-reverse mechanism. The orientation of power window buttons in Fords are designed such that if a small child pushes down (steps/kneels) on the window button by accident and activates it, the window will open not close. All Oz Fords are auto down only and drivers window only.

How about an dual action driver's button that brings the window down while you hold the button to a mid-point but if you press it fully down past a lock down switch it activates full opening.

True, so have auto up windows with the safety reverse. My Wife's Vectra has them on all 4 windows, so it's cant be that hard/expensive. If Ford can work out a car like the territory, I don't think safety windows should be a major problem. At worst case they can get a Vectra from the wreckers and see how it's done
Re: What would you change for the next model Territory?
They arent rocket science you are right. Ford would be forced to delete a Terri feature that Vectra doesnt have like a 3rd row seat or DSC to offset the cost. Either that or up the price to cover it?...

Yes, I think some are forgetting about the final cost and how much people are willing to pay.
I purchased a new Ghia because, for me, the pricing was spot on. And I think that the pricing of all the Territory range is pretty well spot on, as judged by the sales.
If a few things can be added & the overall price is kept the same then go for it, anything else should be added to the options list.

- the clock!!! (as per everyone else!!) such a stupid little thing but VERY annoying.
- some rubber lining in the 'handbag' bins beside the front seats - similar to that on the dash tray. I tended to throw coins/keys in there and they slide around.
- the fold-away cover in the rear masks the dome light - so when you open the tailgate you need to fold back the cover to see anything. A light on the side of the area?
- while I'm on about that - the little loops to start to lift up the fold-away cover are designed for people with 10yo sized fingers. Can they spend a cent or too and make them a decent size so old codgers like me can grab them :-)
- that bl**dy clock. arrgghh!
- the kids hate the way the rear windows only go part way down into the doors- but I suppose that's tied to door shape so stuck with that.
- Add Electrochromatic side mirrors - I thought the "autodimming" rearview mirror was a gimmick, but after using it I've come to love it!
- the sunglasses case in the roof console is too large. Be better to have 2 smaller ones for the front than the one big one. I'm sure one of the Falcons had that (AU??)
- a cord to hold up the cargo area floor while you're getting things out of the storage area under it. Similar to the boot-floor in a Commodore (i know --- boo hisss)
- disable the seat-belt warning chimes when you have selected reverse. activate them once the trans is in "D". I keep thinking it's the reverse sensing chimes..
- bring back a detent between "D" and "N" on the trans rather than free movement from "D" to "N"
- the drivers seat is power everything EXCEPT the incline. Can the seat back be power adjust too (and linked to the memory position)
- finally a niggle - please print a user handbook that is not designed for the "shortest page of the year" award. This one is awkward to read.
Overall - a very competant vehicle. Consumption has averaged under 13L/100km so far - so nothing to complain about there. Pity the tyres squeel like cats when going around roundabouts at a reasonable pace.... ;-)
Some great well thought outs suggestions IanOz. I was nodding my head as I read each point. Add these to my own suggestions posted elsewhere.

Depends where you live. Where I am, 80k's isnt always enough of a warning.
