I have heard of the 2.7 being used in the Territory but I thought I read that this engine might be a little too expensive, so I was wondering if the International engine might be a cheaper option. Having said that the 2.7 would be a great engine for the Territory, hopefully if it happens, all the models get it.

Considering that Ford have the 6speed auto attached to the back of it already in the Disco / Jags etc etc.... development costs would be lower. Also the international Diesel would probably be rough as guts being a "Truck" engine as opposed to a Lux Jag engine or a passenger car engine developed by Peugot.

I was wondering myself about how truck-like the engine would be, but thought it could be the equivalent of the BOSS V8 compared to say a Jaguar V8. Your right about the 6sp Auto and the diesel lessening the cost. The Jag V6 seems like a pretty good engine in the 2.7 tonne Discovery so performance in the Territory shouldn't be far off the petrol version.

Sorry I didnt think I made myself clear. The Back door on the Terry is heavy, It has to be. I know the Chrysler Voyager has them and I think the new mitsi Chariot or something has them. It will be an expensive option but worth it. We always ues the main door, rather that the glass one, and you are always carring something. It would also need to be opened by the remote.

Re the diesel, I vote for the V8 version of the Jag/LR TDV6 if/when it ever comes. Would be approx 3.6L and also sound better being a V8

Good idea. The new Nissan Murano has rear levers for dropping the second row seats flat-wouldn't that be handy?

Well, by the recent reports, they still didn't change the interior colours, I don't get it, why have an SUV that normally should get a little dirty if you are using it, and only give you a tan interior. I want a dark one, plus they look sportier.....

Re: What would you change for the next model Territory?

ok, my suggestions (to which most have been mentioned..hmm):

- plastic in cargo area and around front seats that is less prone to scratching...
- something to protect the rear bumper. big prams and kid crap kill it... recess something hard wearing into it please, or provide some sort of folding out cover. Currently the gap between the bumper and the tailgate is too small to attach say an aluminium plate to.
- heavier gauge wiring to the rear power socket. Some people want to run half decent sized fridges, and the std wiring is very thin- fire hazard even when fused. Same as with the trailer wiring- run a wire through for the electronic brakes.. If you provide it on the plug and the plug harness, why not wire it all the way through for an extra 20c..
- Light in cargo area as discussed. I am thinking of putting a light behind the side vents to allow the area to be lit up as a temp solution until i find an interior light that will suit being recessed into the side. I also like the idea of a light mounted in the tailgate that when the rear tailgate is opened it lights up the ground below
- A half decent stereo- ie, can do mp3, have a decent sub in the premuim models (heard its only a 6x9?!?...), plus a few extra speakers like most cars have now. It has the option of a 3rd row. let them have sound!
-The rear small cargo area in the back of the 5 seaters fold the same as the big one in front of it- you can barely open it! makes it a waste, you have to completely open it to use it as it blocks veiwing with it up. to use it without feeling as if your going to break something involves folding the back seat down. Very painful with 2 kid seats in the back as i have. The two flaps that velcro up (which the velcro is useless with child restraints attached behind) are the main culprit of this.
-A bigger fuel tank, and a half decent guard over it, shaped to fit the underside of the vehicle. Currently it looks like an old gal box bolted underneath waiting to be ripped off.
- make use of the rhs in the cargo area. Perfect for first aid kits, or a fire extinguisher or just to stow things in. At the moment its a waste of space.

I like the idea of a diesel model. With the ever increasing price in fuel, it would be good. Strapped to the new 6spd which has low range potential i like it.
A turbo sporty model would be nice too... but it doesn't bother me much. If i wanted a turbo, i'd buy an xr6t anyhoo.

The ground clearance aint the best, but when you look under it, the rear sway/stabiliser bar bolts just hand down there! Wouldn't take much to bend or bust them.

oh, and as mentioned earlier the brake pedal thing. With my size 12 feet i am constantly braking with the metal bar, not the pedal. Not ver ysafe, as its easy to roll off and mis-brake. I think the pedal arm needs a slight modification due to drivers sitting more upright, their foot it pointed more forward. And no, nomatter how much i adjust the pedal, it doen't help. The pedal for me is too low now. the adjuster just brings it in and out really.

Also, as mentioned the front cup holders to hold a600ml bottle! put one in it, it gets stuck half way, then you spend a minute pulling the black rubber surround off it as it just sits in there. make the rubber part clip in, and make the holder just a smidge bigger please?!?

That's my 2.2c inc GST for now.

Cheers
Macka
