Re: What would you change for the next model Territory?
Nice list you have their Organza.
Mine;
5 or 6spd auto (or maybe even CVT) we all know it's only a matter of time
Dedicated sports (XR like) model with turbo - again just a matter of time (must include AWD option)
Slightly more ground clearance (at least as an options pack) for those that need it
Turbo Diesel option, it's the way of the future - I like the sound of an I5 TDI engine (none of this V-configuration)
I'm OK with the interior trim, chrome, lights, bling options - though why the customer can't configure their own choices for each model I don't know
While the current setup doesn't seem to be deficient the AWD/structure changes to the platform could continue to become more integrated. For example the front diff should be integrally cast with the alloy sump - not bolted onto the side, and those X-shaped members to add strength are clearly an afterthought to address a weakness
Bigger diameter wheel option - this'll probably come when FPV get involved
More colour options, especially HgAg (Mercury Silver) and contrast trim or body colour to be a no-cost option across the board
reversing camera hooked up to the front colour screen in higher spec models
and now the BIGGY - extended wheelbase dual-cab or extra-cab ute configuration
Re: What would you change for the next model Territory?
Tell me why so many of you are advocating for a diesel version. What would be the benefits, certainly not with diesel much more expensive than petrol at present.
Re: What would you change for the next model Territory?
More expensive per litre maybe but they use many less litres per so many kms.
Also modern turbo diesels aren't giving away much to petrol in the kW area while comfortable outgrunting them in Nm especially in everyday low in the rev range driving which is good for hauling lardy ass cars off the line.
Also better for low speed crawling along for anyone who wants to test the AWD capability of their T's

Hi Raptor,
I don’t think it is an after-thought. If you look under some 4WD’s most will have some sort of bracing, this is to add strength & rigidity to the body structure for rock climbing. Remember that there is no chassis rails, so the whole body is flexing if there is not enough strength built in.
Also, I saw that Ford had that X bracing from the very early test stages. If you look in the Wheels Magazine Special Territory Edition, there is a picture of the underneath of a test vehicle with Territory components using a Falcon body, the X bracing is on this test vehicle.

This is my whole point. I know they were on the very early prototypes and some stregthening is inevitable when your basically just upgrading a passenger car type structure but FFS they look like pieces of water pipe tacked into place.
...and some of their engineers have the hide to call me a bloody backyarder
Re: What would you change for the next model Territory?
The other big advantage of diesels is the fuel consumption is a lot more stable, it doesn't skyrocket when towing heavy loads for example. I think between Organza, johnydep & Raptor everything has been covered! I wonder whether a diesel version of the Falcon six could be possible (as per Patrol 4.2 petrol/diesel engines), I think Ford were working on this years ago and it hasn't happened so perhaps not.
