A good point but I do drive enough stock BA's often enough to know that the extra rotor size in the Territory isn't enough. It does stop but never inspires confidence that it will and you can feel the extra 300 kg or whatever it is.

Cheers
Russ

I agree with most of the suggestions posted so far, although I think a diesel would need more than 2.7L, to retain decent off-boost torque. However a 5.4 V12 might be going a bit to far however, I think it would actually be too long. Perhaps a V8 3.6L version would be good.
To me it would make sense that although having 12 cylinders, it would be shorter than the 4.0L because it has 6 per bank obviously (lengthways it can not be longer than the Ford 6 because you are talking about 6 cylinders in a line on both (2.7L vs 4.0) just with the V12 there is obviously two rows of them, so the concern would be width - but if it is wide enough for one V6 diesel, its wide enough for another one in front of it.

So yes please FPV 5.4L V12 twin turbo diesel thanks... 280kw/900Nm imagine the acceleration!

Re: What would you change for the next model Territory?

OK looks like they were already on top of the V8, V10 and V12 diesels (versions of the 2.7L V6)

so based on: 2.7L V6 140kw 440Nm
estimates: 3.6L V8 186kw 586Nm
4.5L V10 233kw 733Nm
5.4L V12 280kw 890Nm

pitty about them cancelling the V12 though

V10 diesel Territory anyone? I want the V12 diesel Land Rover Discovery 3 HSE!

Re: What would you change for the next model Territory?

After reading new2ford's other thread Driving impressions I would have to add some more suggestions for the next generation Territory (these would not necessarily be possible for the next model)

1. LHD compatible
2. 5.4 V8 (or whatever replaces it), the Boss would be better but the sohc would be ok
3. Make a lwb model with more luggage & leg room
4. Single & dual cab ute

I think a lwb Territory with available I6 & V8, rwd & awd would sit very well above the Freestyle in the US.

Re the ute version I haven't really followed the Chev Avalanche (& now also Cadillac version) with the mid-gate so I am unsure whether it would be better to have one of those or a separate rear bed so you could fit other tray bodies. Does anyone know if there has been problems with the mid-gate?

According to this goauto story today the desire for a turbo diesel may one day be met - just don't hold your breath http://www.redbook.goauto.com.au/mellor/mellor.nsf/story2/6713C2EED4F3D1FDCA256F35000695A5[/url]

Re: What would you change for the next model Territory?

I have some other minor things:
- Move the centre console power source plug, inside the centre console.
- Change the silver interior trim. It gets scratched and dirty very easy.
- Fix the tail gate door closing problem, that many people are experiencing
- Place netting in the boot, to hold items against the right hand side nook (e.g. Thermos)

- a V12 Twin Turbo Diesel
- a V8
- a Boss V8
- a High Performance FPV version

- a $10k price drop
- a foot rest
- a bigger wheel option
- a reverse camera

Front parking sensors for the Misus.
More speakers.

And that should just about do it.

Re: What would you change for the next model Territory?

Don't forget:
More room (for a pram) behind third row seats
Stronger handbrake that notches up earlier
Not just a net in RH rear alcove - maybe a removable caddy
A penholder in the console that holds onto a pen
The promised business card holder in the console
A good attitude at all Ford dealers!
An ejector drivers seat to get rid of those who love driving the car so much that I don't get to drive
