I went to trade my 03 explorer in the other day and the guy appraising my explorer wanted to know why my 4 wheel drive didnt work well i have never used it so i didnt know either. Mine (Auto 4 wheel), (4 wheel high), and (4 wheel low) when you push them nothing happens not even the lights light up on the buttons so i thought it my be a fuse. If anyone could help i would appershiate it. Thanks

I had the same problem with my 02. The dealer installed a switch located behind the dash. I think the cost was around $250. It can be diagonosed by the dealer.

02 explorer have a problem with the 4x4 module located behind the glove box door. Its a known problem and Ive replaced many over the last couple of years. If your 4x4 lights don't light up when you start it or when you try to use the 4x4 its a good chance the module is junk. the prices range form 200 to 300 for the module but they are easy to replace. Hope this helps
