03' Explorer Sport brake lights

Son has an 03' Explorer Sport and both brakelights have gone out. Bulbs replaced, still nothing, fuses checked, all intact. The brake light bar at the top of the tailgate works though. I'm out of solutions, anybody got any ideas?

The bulbs you replaced , did you check them and were they blown ? I dont know if it applies to your car , but we get a lot of similar faults over here on European cars caused by the wiring breaking , where the harness passes through into the tailgate .

An update.
Replaced the brake light switch and still nothing. Bulbs look fine, both filaments intact.

Brake switch must be o.k if the brake light bar at the top of the tailgate works ? As far as I know they are usually on same circuit .

Lightbulb Re: 03' Explorer Sport brake lights

I know it's been awhile since you posted, but we had the same problem on our 2000 explorer. My husband found that the receptacle where the bulb plugs in was all corroded. He went to a salvage yard and got a new one and soldered it in. No problems since then~! Hopefully this might help you or someone else.
