Hey all! I have a problem maybe someone can help me or give me some ideas on where to go for help.

I have an 04 Aviator that needs a new transmission. The car has 42000 miles on it and the warranty expired Dec 08. We think Lincoln/Ford should help with the $4000 cost of the tranny. This all happened Friday afternoon, the dealer is calling on Monday to see what he can do, he thinks he can only get $400-$500 to help out. If the car had more miles I wouldn't complain, but to have the transmission fail with only 42000 miles on it is crazy.

Anybody have any luck with Ford honoring an expired warranty in a similar instance? I have emailed, will call and send a certified letter on Monday, but if anybody has any other ideas, I would be glad to hear them!!

I, too, have just started having shifting problems. My '04 has almost 42,000 miles. I'm headed to the dealer today.

It might be worth while to check in with your local Lemon Law office. They might have records of bad transmissions and may be able to build a case to get Ford to replace it. I've never had a transmission fail in less than 10 years! Even with my old Dodge, with 420K on the odo.
