1996 Ford Explorer

Iran the computer on my explorer and the following 2 codes came up: P0756 Shift Solenoid B CKT Performance or stuck in off position and P0401 EGR valve Flow insuffient. I took it to Pep Boys with this info and the mechanic can't find either on the vehicle. If any one knows the location of these 2 items let me know. Much appreciated.

Re: 1996 Ford Explorer

P0401 means the EGR sensor is not detecting enough pressure difference between the two sides of the orifice on the EGR tube. There are two rubber hoses that run from the EGR tube to the EGR sensor which is mounted on the driver's side of the intake plenum. If the hoses aren't blocked, most likely the sensor is bad. I just replaced one on my 96 Explorer. I'll have to think about P0756; I haven't dealt with that code before. Good luck.

Regards,
Mark
