I have a 1998 Expl. 4AWD and problems with transver case , can I take front drive shaft out from the truck and remain with rear drive only ?

Yeah you should be able to, or go under the vehicle on the drivers side and look for the electric shift on the back of the T case and just unplug the wire to it. It won't engage when you shift into 4 or give it to much throttle because of quadratrac. had a similar problem with a '99 explorer

Hi Ford's now I have new problem ,, after changing a transfer case ( OVH ) I find my Explorer rolling back when parked on incline with trany in "park " , it rolls 4-5 feet i 2 hr's !!! ,driving is no problem and all is working correctly .

Do you have the front drive shaft in? You need the front drive shaft in the vehicle on the AWD models or it will roll. Trust me it will roll alot farther than 4-5 feet and can do it in way less than 2 hours.

Just set the parking brake, then it won't roll. The park pawl isn't on the transfer case. If you do have AWD and have a transfer case problem, disconnecting the front axle WON'T FIX IT, it'll just make it worse as AWD models use a torque split, generally 40% front and 60% rear.
