confused 1998 explorer will not start

I have a 1998explorer xlt 6cyl 4.0 sohc that just will not start. It will crank but it will not catch. I have check the fuel pump it was fine. I check the coil pack and it was fine. The spark plugs would not spark. I bought a code reader the will not give me anything. It just says read and then gives me a zero with a lot of flashing letters at me. Any help on what I can do would be wonderful and greatly appreciated.

Re: 1998 explorer will not start

Probably the cam position sensor.... no signal as to cam/crank position = no spark.

Re: 1998 explorer will not start

I finally gave up and took it into the shop and found out that is was the fuel pump. they told me parts would be 355 and labor 295 so I went out in town and found the part cheaper(198) and they agreed to install it for me. So instead of 650 it will only cost me 500.
