1999 Ford Explorer (XLT) Question.......

I have been trying to find out the location of the "Cabin Air Filter". Heck, I didn't even know that there was such thing !!!!! Yeah, I'm an old timer.
Anyway, can anyone help me locate this thing ???? It might be all plugged up and not even functioning. That's what I want to check. Thanks for the help !!

Re: 1999 Ford Explorer (XLT) Question.......

There is no cabin air filter on a '99 Explorer, unless someone installed a kit. The factory did not use them.

Re: 1999 Ford Explorer (XLT) Question.......

Hmmmmm...... I wasn't expecting such a simple answer. O.K. let me put this question to you. "IF" someone did install a kit, where would the filter be located ? That way I can look there to see if I have one. Yes, I realize that the chances are pretty slim, that I have one, but I'm sure stranger things have happened. Please, humor me ........ you never know what some folks might do. I purchased this car used.

Re: 1999 Ford Explorer (XLT) Question.......

Have not seen a cabin air filter, kit or otherwise, on an Explorer. Expeditions had a provision for adding a filter, and that one was on the bottom of the plenum, under the dash on right side.
