Exclamation 2000 Explorer A/C problems

I'm having problems with my A/C not working all the time on my 2000 xlt with the 5.0 v-8. When you switch to a/c or max a/c the compressor does not always come on. Some days it works, some days it doesn't(which is quite often) had it into the dealer several times, new relay, power control module, orifice tube, none of this has worked. They are puzzled and so am I. I still think it is a bad switch in the cabin or possibly a problem in the wiring. and quite possibly the compressor going bad. Any information or help would be appreciated, I am pulling my hair out over this!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks

Sounds like a compressor problem. Not a cheap fix so you may want to try every other route first.

Re: 2000 Explorer A/C problems

Can I try to jump the compressor and see if stays on or am I wasting my time,
how much do you think a compressor would be? Thanks for your help

Try jumping the low pressure switch. That may be the problem.
