2000 Explorer hood won't open - Ford Forums

I pull the hood release lever and nothing happens. The cable appears to be stretched but not broke. Anyone know how to tighten the cable from outside the hood or know another way to get the open? Thanks.

I had the same problem with my 1999 Explorer. I had another person pound lightly on the hood near the release, as I pulled the handle to the max. It popped open.

I think I tightened the cable, but remember it being a pain in the neck. And, I lube the heck out of it. Good Luck
