frown 2000 Ford Explorer XLS Chirping/Squealing noise

I need help! I have a 2000 Ford Explorer XLS 4.0 V6 OHV, VIN-X. I started hearing a Chirping/Squealing noise last week when I started my but went away after about a minute and then it came and went. I replaced the Serpentine belt, Belt Tensioner, Idler Pulley, and Fan Clutch and the Alternator, and the Chirping/Squealing is still there. It is loud at startup if the truck sits overnight but goes away after a minute I hear it while driving ever now and then and when it is in park also, its not so bad if i drive it more than a half hour but it is still there. I took it to a Ford Dealership and they have no idea but they said it is defenitly a external noise. Does anyone have any ideas what it could be?

Thanks.....Tony <!-- / message -->

Take it back and have them check the Cam synchronizer (synchronizer assembly).

Here's another thread 2002 taurus chirping in engine vulcan v6, different vehicle, same symptom.

The sensor mounts on top of the assembly. They are two different things.

It will be the cam synchronizer

As stated in the pm, it may come with it. If not, I wouldn't worry about it, the old one is probably ok.

Out of curiosity, who did you order it from?

Re: 2000 Ford Explorer XLS Chirping/Squealing noise

I ordered the part from a local auto store called Gallagher Auto Parts they are located in Hazleton Pennsylvania. I get all my parts from here. The camshaft synchronizer is $48.00 and it comes with the alignment tool. The Camshaft Postion Sensor is $23.00 which they have in stock. I am just going to get both parts replaced to be safe. I already spent over $350 dollars replacing parts in the past week so whats another $71.00 lol, this truck is turning into a moneypit! It only has 68,500 miles on it. I had both Heads replaced in December 2008 that was around $1800.00, thats including themorstat,plugs,etc. I hope this solves the problem I can't afford to keep putting money into this truck/Suv. It seems like it one problem after another. Still got 2 1/2 years to pay on it I hope it makes it LOL.
