2002 Mercury Mountaineer getting a P0340 Code any thoughts? - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

Truck has 2wd 4.6 V8 with 91,000. SES light was on so I had this scanned a few times. First I received P0305 I bought some CRC MAF Cleaner to see if that would work. Worked for about 5 miles, then came back on. Also received P0340 code. Now the camshaft sensors have already been replaced by the dealer. As it is they didn't want to do anything because the previous owner apparently was a jerk to them. They replaced the sensors and still 2 weeks later it came back on. Its been a few months with this light on now. the truck is out of warranty. What should I do next? Thanks for the help in advanced!

If the light came back on with the same code they were supposed to fix, they should warrant there work. There has to be a problem in the cam sensor circuit. The code P0305 is misfire on cyl. #5. Has that code come up again, or are you only getting P0340?

Yeah initially it it was a code that was saying p0305. Now I am only getting p0340. The dealership was telling me some garbage that because the truck was not purchased there why should they fix it. I was like "what?". So now I am trying to see what possibilities could be causing this code. Something is throwing off other things because at times when im going down the road and take my foot off the throttle.... coast a little, and then hit it again it feels like it hesitates. I don't know it it could be a tune up issue, a computer issue... I'm not a mechanic just trying to do some research so the mechanic isnt just replaces parts for the sake of guessing.
