2002 Mountaineer - rattling sound on passenger side - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

I hear a rattling sound that appears to be coming from the passenger side. I heard that there is some grass cover for the catalytic converter that goes bad and sometimes rattles. Anyone have this problem? What did you do the fix it? I just had the engine swapped out less than 3 months ago and I would have figured my mechanic would have let me know if there was something wrong.

It could be the heat shield and it could be the Cat itself. You'd have to get under it (with safety stands) and tap it lightly with a rubber mallet and see if you can duplicate it. It dosn't have to be running to try that.
