frown 2002 Mountaineer Window Guard

I'm not quite sure on what it's called but the guard on the back window that opens, began to crack right down the center and around the Mercury Emblem/logo.

Any of you also experience this? I've been trying to find the part online but since I don't know the name I'm having a hard time finding it. Please let me know if you know where to find it, price?, and what it's called.

Hope all had a great time after the holidays.

What's a good site for finding replacement parts for my mountaineer?

rear hatch valance/panel perhaps is the name

Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market has a super large parts listing that may carry what you're looking for

Re: 2002 Mountaineer Window Guard

360ci,

Thanks for your help, I haven't been able to find the part yet but that website sure is helpful.

One more thing, and maybe if you don't know someone else may be able to answer it but, is there anyway that the crack can be filled and covered up?

What would be good to use? I already have the touch up paint handy.

Re: 2002 Mountaineer Window Guard

Come on someone here's got to know.

I guess this is a very common problem with Explorers & Mountaineers, anyone here also experience the same problem?

Know of any damages that may be caused by ignoring the problem?

Here's a site with complaints on this same problem:
2004 Ford Explorer cracked panel below the rear window -- [ CarComplaints.com ]

This is the cheapest site I've found that will replace it:
http://site.oemdirectsolutions.com/

I hope this helps
