Hello all!
The A/C in my '03 xlt sport suddenly went warm, one day it was nice and cold, the next it wasn't cool at all. I also noticed a constant "clicking" noise now when the A/C is on, like the compressor going on and off. Does it just need refridgerant or is this a bigger problem? Thanks!
I have been having this problem too. Some cool not cold air was coming out of the right vent in the center of the dashboard.
I happened to be at the dealership for something else and had them check it. First the guy said the clicking sound meant that the ac was cycling too fast and that it probably needed refridgerant. I left the car there and when they called me with the estimate they said it needs a new condenser because there is a crack and the refridgerant is leaking out. The repair cost: $912.00 I called Ford today and I will post the response which they said I will have by Friday. I don't think the AC on a vehicle should go out in 4 1/2 years. I have older cars and the a/c and gas gauge work fine.
2nd: gas gauge does not show full - then it does and then it shows 1/4 tank and runs out of gas on the freeway. Repair cost: $706.00
Repair estimates given today: $1,618.00 REDICULOUS!
Also contacted ford about this will post response.
I think these are two things that should not break down on a single owner, low mileage late model vehicle.
Being it happened suddenly and the compressor is cycling I would guess you have a major leak somewhere. Do you notice oil anywhere on the refrigerant lines or on the compressor?
